Is a lead cook a sous chef?

A lead line cook and a sous chef are distinct roles in a kitchen hierarchy. The lead cook typically oversees specific stations and ensures food quality, while the sous chef is second-in-command, managing kitchen operations and supervising staff. Both roles require culinary skills, but the sous chef usually has more managerial responsibilities and experience.

Which is higher line cook or sous chef?

Typically, the sous chef has more experience, leadership responsibilities, and a higher salary.

Where do line cooks get paid the most?
