Job description

Job Title: Valiant Launch Program Graduate Assistant  

Center for Student Accessibility   

Reports to: Valiant Launch Coordinator and Kate Shannon, CSA Director   

Effective Date: Fall 2026 

Job Description: 

The Valiant Launch Program is an integrated academic program providing robust individualized learning and social support for college-ready students. The Valiant Launch Program Graduate Assistant will support the Valiant Launch Program through program development, event coordination, or administrative operations. Below are three projects that can be the focus of a graduate assistantship. The choice of project will be determined through discussion with the candidate, the Valiant Launch Program Coordinator, and the Director of the Center for Student Accessibility. This role offers practical experience in working with students with disabilities and/or neurodiverse students in higher education while fulfilling graduate program requirements. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Project 1: 

  • Assist in the design, development, and coordination of workshops and training materials for Launch Learning Specialists. 

  • Research best practices related to learning strategies, executive function training, and neurodiversity-affirming supports. 

  • Assist with the development and implementation of program evaluation strategies to assess the effectiveness of the Valiant Launch Program. 

Project 2: 

  • Assist with planning and supporting students through group meetings, social activities, and campus events for Valiant Launch undergraduate students, promoting engagement, community-building, social skill development, and growing independence. 

Project 3: 

  • Assist in the research and development of a peer mentor model to support Valiant Launch students. 

  • Support the Valiant Launch Coordinator with training and oversight of peer mentors. 

Qualifications: 

  • Enrollment in Manhattanville School of Education. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities 

Hours Expectation / Tuition Remission  

  • 100 hours (3 credits).

    Hours are flexible but may include occasional evenings or weekends for events.
