Overview

Shimmick is seeking a Project Engineer in Palmdale, California to support the Palmdale Water Reclamation Plant Influent Pump Station Modification project. This project for the Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD) includes upgrades to influent pumping and electrical systems, construction of a new utility building, and associated civil improvements. The work will enhance operational reliability, improve system performance, and support long-term water reclamation operations serving the surrounding region. 

The Project Engineer supports the successful planning and execution of infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, and other civil works. The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to project schedules and budgets.

Southwest Division

Shimmick's Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego at the $200 million Groundwater Replenishment System in Orange County.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
  • Responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
  • Plan and develop engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
  • Maintain liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 6 years of heavy civil construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Heavy civil project experience in Southern CA.

The salary range for this position is between $125,000-$155,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.

Additional voluntary benefit offerings include pet insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness insurance, legal and identity theft protection. These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services.
