Job Title: General Laborer / Saw & Part Cutter
Company: Firelands Fabrication
Reports to: Shop Supervisor
FLSA: Hourly
Position Summary:
The General Laborer/Saw & Part Cutter is responsible for performing various tasks in the fabrication department, including operating saws and other cutting equipment to cut parts according to specifications.
Essential Functions:
  1. Operate horizontal band saws and other cutting equipment to cut metal, plastic, and other materials to specified dimensions.
  2. Operate Hydraulic punch/shear equipment (Ironworker)
  3. Operate Plasma plate cutting equipment
  4. Grind and wire wheel steel plate
  5. Operate Brake Press
  6. Paint steel
  7. Load/unload trucks
  8. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Use of powered and powder actuated tools (grinders, magnetic drill press)
  • Operating tow motor
  • Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent standing and walking, sometimes across rough or uneven surfaces
  • Occasional climbing, sitting, kneeling, bending and overhead reaching
  • Use of an oxy/acetylene cutting torch if required
  • Operate overhead and jib cranes
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor tasks.
Working Conditions:
The primary work location will be within a manufacturing facility equipped with modern machinery and tools. The facility is designed to provide a controlled environment for welding operations. General start and stop times vary depending on the project, but normally range from 6:00am-4:30pm, normally working four (4) 10-hour days. Occasional mandatory overtime is to be expected.
