Job description

Are you looking for a hands-on role where every day is different? Can you handle physically demanding work and enjoy working outdoors or in a fast-paced environment? If you take pride in your craft and want to be part of a fun dynamic team, then Alyeska Resort is for you! 

We're looking for Laborer professionals to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska. 
What You'll Do 
As a Laborer, you will be responsible for general construction, woodworking, finishing and touch ups around the Resort. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Loading and unloading tools or raw materials. 
  • Assembling scaffolding or other pieces of equipment. 
  • Digging or filling in pits throughout the construction process. 
  • Clearing debris from construction structures. 
  • Operating light and heavy equipment. 
  • Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material. 
  • Assist welders, carpenters, painters or other tradespeople on-site. 
  • Handle and transport materials and equipment. 
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks.  
  • Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures.  
  • Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions. 
  • Responsible for all maintenance and repair all painted surfaces and wall covering surfaces.

What We Need 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Good customers service skills, interpersonal skills, and verbal/written communication skills. 
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and with fumes. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.   
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 
     

What to Expect 
Be on alert and at times, on your feet for long periods, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
Work in a fast-paced, high-energy resort environment. 
Adapt to seasonal changes around the resort and special events.

Employee may be required to pass a functional capacity test developed for this job. 
  • Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
