Laboratory (Lab) Manager Position Details
The Lab Manager provides leadership and oversight for daily laboratory operations, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic testing that supports exceptional patient care. This position leads laboratory staff, promotes quality and regulatory compliance, supports operational excellence, and partners with providers and organizational leaders to ensure effective laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to laboratory staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable test results that support patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop laboratory team members while supporting employee engagement and professional growth.
  • Establish and monitor quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance activities, and department processes to support safe and effective laboratory operations.
  • Manage laboratory staffing, workflow, scheduling, supplies, equipment, and resources to support department goals and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership, providers, and other healthcare partners to identify opportunities for service improvement and enhance patient care.
  • Participate in budget planning, expense management, process improvement initiatives, and evaluation of new laboratory methodologies and technologies.
  • Maintain technical expertise and provide bench support as needed to ensure continuity of laboratory services.

What You Offer
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technology (MT) from an accredited program.
  • Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) through a nationally recognized certifying agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • Progressive clinical laboratory experience with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage priorities, support quality improvement initiatives, and promote a positive team environment.

Work Schedule
  • Full-time (1.0 FTE), exempt position
  • Typical schedule: Monday-Friday, daytime hours
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside of regular business hours to support laboratory operations, staff needs, education, and departmental priorities.
