Position Summary
 
Reporting to the Lab Manager, the Quality Lab Assistant will be responsible for the generation of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for outgoing shipments across our facilities while also supporting laboratory receiving activities, including sample intake, logging and coordination with internal teams and third-party laboratories. Succeeding in this position will involve a high level of organization, accuracy and attention to detail. This individual must have a background in microbiology and laboratory operations, with working knowledge of almond quality attributes and microbiological analysis.
 
Position Responsibilities
  • Generate COAs based on quality control (QC) sheet calculations and laboratory analysis records for domestic and/or export sales orders.
  • Coordinate COA calendar with shipping schedules across all three facilities to ensure loads ship out with the appropriate COAs.
  •  Collaborate with marketing, production, shipping, and other teams as necessary to ensure customer demands are being met appropriately.
  • Prioritize COAs according to shipping dates and times.
  • Run production and allocation reports as needed.
  • Track order status changes across multiple different platforms (Teams, Excel, Word, SAP).
  • Perform calculations from Quality Control (QC) sheet records.
  • Ensure that the information on the certificates meets the customer’s specifications and communicates to relevant personnel when non-conformities are found. 
  • Generate new COA templates per customer requirements when necessary.
  • Collaborate with lab personnel to obtain results and complete COAs in a timely manner.
  • Data entry.
  • Maintain an aseptic environment through proper handling and sanitation.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 lbs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
 
  • High School diploma or state equivalency is required.
  • AA degree is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of lab technician work experience required.
  • Two years’ experience in administrative field is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Required to comply with all Company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Must work well with others.
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Be responsible for maintaining ofi’s commitment to provide quality products and
  • services with an emphasis on Food Safety, legality, and integrity.
  • This role is performed on site at a facility that regularly processes almonds and other tree nuts. Employees in this position will routinely work in areas where almonds and other tree nuts and related allergens are present and may be exposed by contact or in the air. The pay for this role in the state of California is $22.24 to $28.91 per hour and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location.
