ThisEngineering Technician II-Lab Equipment Calibration Specialist role is responsible for managing Generac Lab's test equipment calibrations, maintenance, documentation, and record keeping under general supervision. Coordinates continuous improvement activities to reduce the potential for defects. Works with lab personnel and metrology vendors to ensure all test equipment items are up to date on calibration and has a good understanding of the types of test equipment per application. This role requires a self-starter which is highly motivated, has an excellent attention to detail, and disciplined work habits to add to the Generac Lab Team.
Responsibilities:
  • Use various mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devices.
  • Knowledge of various forms of test equipment utilized in a generator development lab setting., including pressure transducers, flow meters, weather stations, and load cells.
  • Accurately interpret and document scientific notation, temperature, pressure, and other measurements.
  • Coordinating and executing calibration events to align with the lab and metrology vendors.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation on calibrated test equipment.
  • Track test equipment locations and status for accuracy
  • Perform verifications of test equipment and instrumentation
  • Support the lab with test equipment use training and assistance
  • Manage vendor relationships, including cost tracking and PO creation
  • Authoring of operating procedures for verification and calibration activities
  • Assist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and 5S organization programs
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures supporting the continuous improvement of the Engineering Lab
  • Actively participate with fellow Lab team members in daily maintenance of Lab environment and preventive maintenance of Lab equipment
  • Partner with fellow Lab team members to execute project and assist where necessary
  • Setup test equipment and products in proper sequence per testing procedures.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • 2 years of relevant work experience

Preferred experience:
  • Experience managing projects or participating in project teams;
  • Familiar with ISO17025, ISO9001, and SAP

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
