Job description

SUPPLY CHAIN

Rocket Lab's Supply Chain team is responsible for the flow of all materials, products, and components through the business. With many of our own products functioning as critical components to our own and our customers' missions, the Supply Chain team has a direct impact on the success of our rocket and satellite programs. They set up the assembly kits that enables our technicians to put together our Electron rockets, manage inventory, look after shipping and receiving, manage direct and indirect procurement, and inspect and ensure that all of our materials and products are compliant and up to standard. They are the chain that links our teams together, and are critical to our success.

SUPERVISOR, INVENTORY AND LOGISTICS

Based on site at Rocket Lab's Middle River, MD facility, the Supervisor of Inventory and Logistics plays a pivotal role in leading a team responsible for ensuring seamless inventory control and efficient daily operations, including expediting, receiving, storage, picking, packing, and local dispatch. This leader works closely with team members to drive operational excellence, maintain high service levels for both internal and external customers, and ensure timely order fulfillment. With a focus on achieving DIFOT (Delivery in Full, On Time), inventory accuracy, and adherence to standard operating procedures, this role is critical to supporting Rocket Lab's mission and growth.

WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO

  • Inspire and manage a skilled team responsible for inventory management, material handling, and logistics operations.
  • Develop and execute strategic inventory planning and kitting processes to ensure materials are delivered line side to production cells with precision and efficiency.
  • Maintain rigorous inventory accuracy through data driven cycle counting and reporting, ensuring alignment with financial and audit requirements.
  • Design and enforce efficient, scalable shipping and receiving workflows that integrate seamlessly with the procure-to-pay process, ensuring timely and accurate material movement.
  • Manage domestic and international logistics operations, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery of materials across the supply chain.
  • Identify and execute process improvements using Lean principles, data analytics, and automation to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the success of the team and the organization's mission.

YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience and a high school diploma or equivalent years of education (Bachelors degree and 6+ years of experience).
  • 3+ years of related experience in leadership within supply chain.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory teams.
  • Proven ability to implement systems and tools for material management.
  • Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, math and statistics

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Business
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Team oriented, strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and to multiple deadlines
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or other heavy manufacturing.
  • Experience with ERP Systems
  • Prior experience in high-paced, rapid growth environment

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
