FACULTY OF HEALTH STUDIES 

NorQuesters are difference makers and we're looking for someone dedicated to finding ways forward to join our Faculty of Health Studies team at our Edmonton &/or Wetaskiwin campuses as a Term Instructional Assistant in our Practical Nurse Diploma and Health Care Aide Programs. This term position ends March 31, 2027. 

Graduates of NorQuest College's Practical Nurse Diploma and Health Care Aide Programs are also Difference Makers in terms of the health care that Albertans receive. Our students prepare for their clinical experiences with theory and hands-on learning in multiple modes of delivery, and we are proud of the varied and robust learning experiences in our programs. We utilize low and high-fidelity simulation to augment the learner experience, providing students with a safe learning environment to practice and reflect.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • As a NorQuest Instructional Assistant, you will facilitate learning in the lab setting in Edmonton and/or Wetaskiwin, so the ability to travel to these locations is a requirement.
  • Instructional Assistants help our learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitude to be successful and safe practitioners within their scope of practice.
  • This role works with students on campus in the lab setting:
    • The hours of work can vary.
    • Lab courses are offered on weekdays and weekends, during days and evenings.
    • Set up/ take down of lab according to lab schedule.
    • Monitoring and organizing lab supplies, lab equipment, and lab materials.
    • Ensure lab materials are prepared prior to the lab course.
    • Collaborate with lab team to ensure effective facilitation of lab courses.
  • Responsibilities include supervising students, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment, maintaining appropriate student records of attendance and performance, providing appropriate feedback to students on performance, notifying appropriate individuals of student concerns, and developing and maintaining relationships with different areas of the college.
  • You will need to possess excellent organizational and communication skills and have a passion for providing instruction and feedback that allows our students to apply skills in a safe and patient-centered way.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A Practical Nurse designation is required.
  • At least 3 years of nursing or nursing education experience (or the equivalent in part-time experience).
  • CLPNA registration with no restrictions.
  • Current BLS, WHIMIS, HBPE, It's Your Move, N95 Mask.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.

AUPE Band Level 7 | Instructional Assistant II | $2,205 - $2,864 bi-weekly reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience.
