They will communicate the results in conjunction with repair and maintenance recommendations based on data trend analysis, knowledge of the metallurgical and mechanical characteristics of equipment components, customer maintenance, and applications of operational practices. Will sometimes be asked to pick up and deliver parts, products and tooling to/from various departments.

  • Responsible for lab sample test data evaluation, trend analysis, and communication of maintenance and/or repair recommendation to customers resulting from data interpretation
  • Significant and well-developed judgment must be exercised when reviewing results to ensure that accuracy and quality of lab output is maintained and consistent
  • Evaluate and initiate a request to redo/rework any part of an analytical procedure carried out by the lab as well as any changes in the area of data entry and sample registration
  • Participate in or providing lab tours or training for internal/ external customers, discussing each part of the sample analysis process in detail
  • Reports to the lab manager and ensures that the required turnaround time for all samples is met
  • Maintain efficient and timely flow of information to customers and the credibility of reported information
  • May be required to validate and support the laboratory with ensuring analytical instruments are calibrated and functioning correctly
  • Communication to lab supervisor on sample analysis, laboratory equipment operation, and day-to-day laboratory operations and efficiencies

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Petroleum Technology or a Science related field such as Chemistry is required
  • Mechanical aptitude is a requirement with excellent mechanical/systems knowledge as well as knowledge of laboratory analysis of petroleum and coolants
  • Ability to manage and perform day-to-day lab operations as well as an awareness of the need to follow safe, established laboratory and company procedures/processes is mandatory
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills
  • Advanced keyboarding skills and excellent knowledge of computers, LIMs and laboratory analysis equipment
  • Self-motivated, thorough and be a tenacious problem-solver with the ability to diplomatically deal with people during adverse and stressful situations
  • Operate with a minimum of supervision and must be precise, thorough, and neat

Important Information

  • This position is based out of our Fluid Analysis Lab in West Edmonton on a 5x2 shift.
  • This is a static day shift; Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day
