Trilogy at Vistancia: Kiva & Mita Clubs

Trilogy at Vistancia is comprised of three feature club experiences, the golf club, the original community centerpiece, Kiva Club, and the recently introduced Mita Club. The golf course, the feature restaurant, V's Taproom, the full-service Alvea Spa, and the events & weddings venue are all available to the public.

Where: Peoria, 40 minutes west of Scottsdale & Northwest of downtown Phoenix, Arizona

Pay: Non-Teaching Rate - $16.00 per hour / Personal Training Rate - Commission

Benefits:

New hourly full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.

Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off ("PTO") in accordance with the Company policy at a rate of 120 hours per year.

Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually.

Part-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Sick Leave in accordance with state guidelines.

All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Personal Trainer sets goals, develops personalized exercise programs, provides training for safe use of equipment, and assists members during exercise workouts to promote a lifelong health and fitness program.  This position reports to the Spa & Fitness Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensure the BlueStar for members and guests by modeling and maintaining the standards set in the BlueStar 10 and adhering to BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) and facility policies
  • Help monitor facility for member and/or guest use only, assuring that it is safe and secure.
  • Meet with members to discuss lifestyle management, fitness goals, and how to design a personalized exercise routine with a goal to produce confident, independent exercisers.
  • Maintain a professional trainer-client relationship and confidentiality; understand and use universal precautions when providing fitness training, and assess client contraindications that might prevent safe use of any equipment. 
  • Create safe, effective, interesting customized exercise programs, based on client's individual needs and/or physical limitations, with enthusiasm and support.
  • Remain focused on clients during the session; engage in conversations related to the client's interests and concerns.
  • Provide in-depth training for safe equipment use; report any incident or accident to the Spa & Fitness Director.
  • Create and maintain client cards, fitness program suggested, and workout notes, when appropriate.
  • Work assigned schedule; begin and end all sessions on time; clean and disinfect all equipment to maintain a clean and sanitized work environment, according to procedures.
  • Build and maintain a client base by creating sales goals for Personal Training packages.  The Spa & Fitness Director collaborates with trainers to create a sales strategy and monitors monthly sales.
  • Keep current with facility calendar, and participate in facility events, activities, and seminars, as directed by management. 
  • Promote a total facility experience by suggesting programs and activities in other areas that can inspire or assist members with their personal and social lifestyle goals.
  • Know all spa services offered and be able to suggest beneficial spa treatments, to complement a fitness routine.
  • Assist staff with lifting and storing facility equipment, furniture, and products to help maintain facility and prepare for special events, as requested.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year previous customer service and personal trainer experience preferred.
  • Certified as a Personal Trainer from a nationally recognized agency, such as ACE, AFFA, ASCM, NSCA, or NSPA.
  • Current First Aid, CPR/AED certification, and other safety certifications, as required by the Club.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to listen to client's needs, concerns, and goals and provide motivation to commit to the fitness program, make the changes to meet their goals, and feel positive about the process.
  • Ability to demonstrate equipment use for exercise training.
  • Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates.
  • Ability to speak with volume to direct a class.
  • Ability to lead a class and pay attention to the client's workout movements at the same time, sometimes with distractions; willingness to respond to client's questions or concerns.
  • Ability to write client notes, reports, and correspondence.
  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge about exercise, health, and fitness by remaining current with industry trends.
  • Ability to explain and promote other facility services to guests.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to work well with others and provide excellent customer service dealing with clients.
  • Must demonstrate initiative-ability to think, work, and make independent decisions, based on sound judgment.
  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy and meeting timeliness is a must.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends, with limited travel required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position typically works indoors with individual clients in the common fitness area.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is physically active and requires standing, walking, bending and twisting, reaching, and a variety of physical movement for the duration of a shift, sometimes with repetitive motions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see and hear, speak clearly to provide directions to the group and understand the speech of another person, sometimes in a noisy environment; must have strength and flexibility and be able to lift up to 45-pound weight plates.  Dependable vision is critical to this position, including close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
