Living at Reflections, LLC. (Reflections) provides clinical excellence in the intensive treatment of drug & alcohol addiction & dependence in an exclusive, high-end environment conducive to achieving and sustaining long-term sobriety. Reflections specializes in dual-diagnosis programs that focus on mental health, that drive substance abuse in the first place.
Position Summary
The detox specialist is a Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT), or a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and are responsible for providing assessments, discharge plans and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the patient in coordination with the attending psychiatrist/nurse practitioner. He/she is also a member of the Treatment Team and will provide relevant information in their shift report. Full-Time and Part-Time. He/She will also work with the Program Assistants throughout their shift with all necessary help related to Admissions, Discharges, Client needs and Detox Meal assistance for Client safety
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain current CA License, BLS Certification with First Aid, and TB
  • Arrive to your shift on time, and provide a thorough pass down shift report on all Clients to the next shift and upload this report into KIPU under Shifts
  • Ensure back-up shift coverage in case of absence if possible
  • Maintain HIPAA standards at all times
  • Facilitate all initial & discharge Health Services Department paperwork for all health-related charting in Client's EHR KIPU
  • Accurately obtain and chart vital signs, height, weight, BAC (blood alcohol level) and UDS (urine drug screen)
  • Chart by exception, chart all medical interventions, reasons for, and outcomes of
  • Monitor/Observe/Facilitate medication to/for Clients on assigned shifts, be able to accurately inform/educate the Client of all risks and benefits of all the medications that have been prescribed for them by our Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatrist
  • Notify Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatrist of all abnormal vital signs, symptoms or AMA immediately.
  • Fill out incident report and give to the Director of Nursing/Nurse Manager for any and all health care related emergencies, i.e. falls, AMA/ACA, medication errors, or emergency health related interventions
  • Accurately assess/document degree of detoxification or over sedation Client may be experiencing during detoxification process. Be familiar with common detox assessments, CIWAs and COWS.
  • Conduct Detox Level assessments and observations in a timely manner depending upon Detox Level.
  • Conduct urine drug screen upon all admissions and randomly thereafter when necessary. Process all UDSs through KIPU. Training and instruction sheets will be available.
  • Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • At least one year of experience treating chemical dependency, mental health clients and/or co-occurring disorders is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Maintains current BLS and First Aid certification.
  • Maintains active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in CA.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
