Job description

At Belk we have a vision to reimagine the department store. As a Key Holder, you will drive store sales and metrics by supporting the leadership team with store opening and closing coverage. The Key Holder is an hourly associate role with active leadership responsibility. During assigned open or closing shifts you will help drive the in-store experience.

Through excellent customer service and friendly interactions with associates you'll help the leadership team quickly and effectively take care of the customer. Most importantly, you will work closely on a team that cares for our customers in an environment where we thrive by winning together.

Opens and/or closes the store and ensuring that proper store procedures and policies are followed as directed by store management

Responsible for covering open CSL shifts (not responsible for coaching associates, only associate celebrations and modeling service behaviors)

Drives customer service during assigned period

Approves select point of sale transactions such as returns and voids, when needed to serve the customer

Resolves customer service issues as needed

Engages in promoting and selling products to ensure customer satisfaction

Ensures that registers are properly opened and closed, doors are opened and locked and alarms areset correctly

Supports store manager with management and coordination of the daily operations of the store

Communicates results from CSL walks with store leadership

Remain current on all company policies and ensures that all policies, standards and procedures aremaintained and followed in a consistent manner

Minimum Education & Experience:

Must participate in Service Excellence leadership training

Must be 18 or rising senior in high school

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience in retail preferred

Excellent communication skills

Must be able to work a flexible schedule (including mornings, evenings, & weekends) and close storeone to two nights per week

Internal applicants: 12-18 months required employment to be considered for the role

Internal applicants: Must be in good standing (not on performance warning) and have a good or better on their lastperformance appraisal

Physical Requirements:

Ability to use computer keyboard, standard telephone and other related business equipment

Hand manipulation to remove sensor tags

Ability to push / pull 100-500 pounds when moving stock carts

Task demands vary in each department because of the different types of merchandise

Stocking requirements can involve reaching above & below shoulder level and lifting 25-50 pound boxes

Ability to work at a safe and steady pace
