Job Summary

The account manager is the primary point of contact for clients, responsible for the successful execution of marketing campaigns and deliverables from kickoff to completion. This person ensures client needs are clearly translated into internal team direction, managing project timelines and coordinating across the strategy, design, communications, photo/video, and web development teams to keep work on time and within budget. Success in this role requires thriving in a fast-paced environment and adapting quickly to shifting client needs and new projects. 


Account Manager Duties and Responsibilities

The account manager is organized, proactive, and flexible, simultaneously handling various duties pertaining to Four Columns and our clients with ease. This role’s main responsibility is to ensure client satisfaction, and ensure teams have all the necessary information to do their best work. While no two days are exactly the same, some of the account manager’s daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients via email, Zoom, phone, and in-person meetings (occasional travel within Texas)
  • Translate client goals into clear direction for strategy, design, communications, photo/video, and web development teams; participate in internal reviews to ensure quality before client delivery
  • Create and manage project timelines and milestones; flag scope creep early
  • Lead regular status update calls with clients and internal teams to keep projects aligned
  • Resolve client concerns quickly and maintain accurate records of project history, approvals, and key decisions
  • Research clients' industries and competitors to bring a strategic point of view, not just execution
  • Identify opportunities to expand scope with existing clients and support new business efforts as needed


Account Manager Qualifications and Skills

An account manager must meet the following minimum qualifications in order to be able to perform the duties of this role with the utmost professionalism and excellence. Qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field; or equivalent professional experience 
  • 2-3+ years in account management, project management, or client-facing agency roles
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail and time management 
  • Adaptability and creative problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Commitment to curiosity and a desire to learn 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects and clients at once 
  • Self-starter willing to learn and work within internal production processes
  • Familiarity with these programs: Any project management system (ie. Hive, Asana, Basecamp); LinkedIn/Facebook/Instagram; Google Business Ecosystem; Microsoft Office Ecosystem  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in B2B and industrial/oil & gas marketing
  • Familiarity with HubSpot is a plus
