Description

Currently seeking a contract SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test), with the Quality Management department, to design, implement, and maintain test automation frameworks, utilities, CI/CD automation, and AI-supported quality practices. This role partners closely with Agile Development Teams to define, document, analyze, and interpret tests for products, systems, services, and their components. The ideal candidate will have strong technical testing and coding skills, experience with automation frameworks and API/SDK/Web Application or Microservice testing, and the ability to use approved AI tools and AI agents responsibly to improve test coverage, automation maintenance, defect triage, reporting, and team productivity.

Position will be Hybrid - required to work out of the Carmel office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Design, maintain, and evolve reusable test automation frameworks, libraries, and test artifacts that strengthen regression, integration, API/SDK/Web Application, Service, and Microservice coverage.

• Develop automated test cases and supporting code to improve testability; collaborate with developers to review technical designs and code, troubleshoot issues, and apply programming, data structure, algorithm, and debugging knowledge to help resolve software issues.

• Plan, develop, and execute automated and manual test strategies within Agile teams, including static reviews, unit, module, performance, load, and integrated systems testing.

• Improve automation efficiency and CI/CD quality by supporting branching policies, pipeline-as-code approaches, coverage analysis, and integration of automation scripts into delivery pipelines.

• Recommend and support effective testing tools, utilities, automation frameworks, CI/CD automation, and AI-enabled QA practices for the application under test.

• Use approved AI tools and create, configure, evaluate, and maintain AI agents or workflow automations to support test case generation, test data ideation, script review, defect triage, root-cause research, regression preparation, automation maintenance, pipeline troubleshooting, documentation, reporting, and knowledge capture while validating outputs for accuracy and quality.

• Provide project and task estimates, status reports, work instructions, training materials, and guidance for effective use of test automation and AI-supported QA workflows; perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

• Good analytical and problem solving, interpersonal, organizational skills.

• Demonstrated understanding of source code for applications written in .Net, Java, Python, Ruby, or PHP, including debugging skills.

• Must possess strong communication skills and work well with cross-functional and matrixed teams to drive quality improvements.

• Well organized work habits with attention to detail.

• Ability and willingness to learn, evaluate, and responsibly use AI tools and AI agents to improve software testing, automation framework design, code analysis, documentation, CI/CD troubleshooting, defect triage, reporting, and team productivity.

• Ability to create, configure, use, and improve AI agents or workflow assistants for recurring SDET activities, while validating AI-generated outputs for accuracy, identifying incorrect assumptions, protecting sensitive data, and applying sound engineering judgment.

• Demonstrated growth mindset and initiative to stay current with practical AI applications in software quality, including prompt writing, workflow automation, AI-assisted coding, and integrating AI into daily work habits.

Required Experience:

1. Minimum Education (or Substitute experience) required:

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CIS, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

2. Minimum Experience required:

• 3+ years software development or 3+ years automated software testing experience, preferably with Visual Studio, C#, REST/SOAP.

• Experience working with automated test tools, preferably Selenium, SQL Navigator/Management Studio, Jenkins, GitHub, Visual Studio, or Eclipse IDE.

• Experience working with performance, load, code coverage, CI/CD, and pipeline automation tools and analysis.

• Agile Test or Development experience preferred.

• Exposure to AI-enabled development, testing, coding, or agent tools is preferred; candidates without AI experience must demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn and apply AI responsibly in the SDET workflow.

• SDET, test automation, development, cloud, DevOps, ISTQB CTFL, or AI-related certification is preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
