Job description

FloSports is the leading digital platform for underserved sports, combining live and on-demand streaming, original programming, data, and technology to help sports grow their audiences and build sustainable businesses, from youth to professional levels. By bringing thousands of events and communities onto one platform, Flo creates scale where none previously existed, connecting passionate fans with the sports they love while giving athletes, organizers, and rights holders the tools to reach and engage a global audience.
Flo streams more than 50,000 live events annually across sports, including motorsports, wrestling, hockey, track & field, cheer, jiu-jitsu, NCAA Division II and III athletics, and more. We're looking for people who are passionate about sports, embody accountability, collaboration, curiosity, positivity, grit, and excellence, and are motivated to help grow and elevate the communities we serve.
THE ROLE:
This role will be part of a small, dedicated UX Research team.
You will get a lot of variety and see a lot of impact. We cover 25 sports and have products for web, mobile, and connected TV. This is an opportunity to investigate a wide range of users in multiple verticals using a varied set of methodologies and to do research that directly impacts users and products and results in real, tangible changes.
You will perform both generative and evaluative research. Studies will be both moderated and unmoderated, as appropriate. You will help determine what is appropriate. Generative studies may include interviews for persona and journey map development, longitudinal diary studies, card sorts, tree tests, etc. Evaluative studies may include baseline studies of existing products and iterative validation of new and improving products. Eventually, you may be conducting onsite contextual inquiries at locations ranging from dirt race tracks to cheer competitions. We will probably co-invent some hybrid solutions to get at tricky questions. All research source material and reports will live in a tagged repository, where an actively managed taxonomy of tags will help keep insights and artifacts persistently available and relevant. You will own the taxonomy.
On the quantitative side, you will help analyze behavioral analytics, design and interpret surveys, and interpret and present quantitative results from unmoderated usability studies.
You will be mentored and you will be expected to mentor more junior researchers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and conduct iterative usability tests
  • Plan and conduct UX research projects, including initial concept, method selection, execution, analysis, synthesis, reporting, and archiving.
  • Own and maintain the tagging taxonomy
  • Mentor junior researchers

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • 5+ years of experience in UX research
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Relevant portfolio
  • Ability to drive definition and certainty in an ambiguous environment
  • Willingness to travel

BONUS POINTS:
  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Experience with a research repository system like EnjoyHQ, Dovetail, Condens, Aurelius, etc.
  • Experience with UX research platforms and tools like Maze, dscout, Optimal Workshop, Lookback, UserZoom, etc.
  • Experience with behavioral analytics platforms like Mixpanel, Pendo, Heap, Amplitude, etc.
  • Experience with Figma
  • Awareness of Agile and how to work in an Agile system
  • Experience with both B2C and B2B research studies

OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY:
FloSports exists to elevate the communities, athletes, and sports that have too often been overlooked. That mission starts with our own team. We believe that a diverse, inclusive workplace-one where different perspectives are sought out, heard, and valued-is essential to building a company that can truly serve the full spectrum of sports fans.
