Job description

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager - Aviation to join our expanding team in our Charlotte or Raleigh, NC offices. This is a dynamic leadership opportunity to work on a wide range of civil and aviation-related infrastructure projects at NC airports.  

Role Summary

As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of planning, design, and delivery of complex projects. You’ll play a key role in business development, project execution, and client relationship management—while also helping to mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of our North Carolina Aviation team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and manage a variety of aviation and civil infrastructure projects
  • Oversee stormwater, utility infrastructure, and pavement design and assessments
  • Manage construction support services, including construction management and inspection
  • Lead and coordinate large, multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, reports, and permit applications
  • Analyze design alternatives, technical data, cost estimates, and project schedules
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Maintain and grow client relationships with local and national aviation partners
  • Support business development, including proposal preparation and client presentations
  • Mentor and develop junior team members to promote technical excellence

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum of 10 years of civil engineering experience, including at least 3 years in civil engineering project design
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Demonstrated experience managing aviation or transportation infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to client sites throughout the region
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Commercial Service and General Aviation Airports, NCDOA, NCDOT, FAA, and local permitting agencies
  • Familiarity with civil engineering design, site development, and utility coordination
  • Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D and related engineering software
