Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior ProjectManager who will assistin leading and overseeing aspects of project execution from initiation through completion on a facilities projects. This includes assisting in developing detailed project plans, managing resources, maintaining budgets and schedules, and ensuring that deliverables meet contractual and stakeholder requirements. The ideal candidate brings plenty of energy and a willingness to learn, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement. This role involves interpreting sketches, specifications, and technical notes to create detailed mechanical, structural, electrical, or civil drawings. The ensures compliance with drafting standards and supports the engineering team through document control, revisions, and collaboration across disciplines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing project plans that define scope, schedule, resources needed for a facilities project.
  • Prepare and revise 2D and 3D technical drawings, schematics, and models using CAD software.
  • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and notes to develop detailed technical drawings for mechanical, electrical, structural, or civil applications.
  • Apply standard drafting conventions and industry best practices to ensure compliance and clarity.
  • Maintain and update drawing files, ensuring proper control of revisions in alignment with engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Participatein cross-functional project teams and ensure alignment across technical, operational, and client-facing roles.
  • Review and contribute to the creation of engineering documentation, technical reports, maintenance policies, and design packages.
  • Monitor and track progress using project management tools.
  • Disseminate project status to project stakeholders and end users.
  • Lead design and development efforts from concept through production.
  • Assist in developing project status reports.
  • Assist in identify risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle and assist indeveloping effective mitigation plans.
  • Participatein post-project evaluations, lessons learned sessions, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Create and maintain basic bills of materials (BOMs), part lists, and drawing packages for manufacturing or construction teams.
  • Conduct self-checks and peer reviews to ensure drawing accuracy, quality, and alignment with project specifications.
  • Support document management systems to track revisions, approvals, and drawing status.

Basic Qualifications

  • TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in creating or modifying part, assembly, or installation engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working from basic layouts, standard data, or established references to develop complete drawing packages.
  • Ability to apply standard engineering drafting practices across disciplines such as mechanical, structural, electrical, or electronics.
  • Experience in project management and facilities infrastructure related work.
  • Familiarityin project planning, resource management, risk management, and budget oversight.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior leadership and customer on technical solutions, project requirements, goals, and design.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of design specifications, basic document management, and revision control.
  • Effective communicator who can explain technical details and collaborate across functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address moderately complex technical drawing challenges.
  • Ability to work independently on larger assignments while supporting peers or junior staff as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced design software such as CATIA, CREO, Revit, or NX.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, electrical systems, or product design depending on specialization.
  • Familiarity with design modifications and design review processes.
  • Experience with file and data management
  • Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Office, Archibus.
  • Familiarity with federal contracting environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of change management practices and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Exposure to engineering change processes (ECOs, ECPs) and bill of materials (BOM) creation.
  • Understanding of project management principles and ability to contribute to project execution timelines and deliverables.
  • Certifications such as:
  • Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP)
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP)
  • Experience mentoring or training other drafters in tools, standards, or processes.
