Job description

Meet Method

Method has built the most modern way to connect to consumer financial accounts. Combining real-time liability connectivity with instant payment execution, Method’s API is designed to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use.

We have helped 45+ million users connect 350+ million liability accounts credential‑less and processed over $2.5B in payments, helping users save millions in interest. One in every three credit cards in the United States is in the Method ecosystem and leading financial institutions like SoFi, Bilt, Cleo, Sezzle, Figure & Aven rely on our APIs to build magical experiences for millions of consumers.

We’re a team of 50+ people spread across offices in Austin, SF, New York City, and Washington D.C! We’re excited to continue the momentum working alongside our investors and advisors from Andreessen Horowitz, Emergence Capital, Y Combinator, Avra, and Ardent. The impact

As Method's Accounting Manager, you will architect and own the order-to-cash motion that underpins Method's revenue integrity, reporting directly to the Director of Accounting. You will take full, end-to-end ownership of invoicing and revenue recognition, work that already carries meaningful complexity and will only grow as the business scales.

Beyond core accounting operations, you will build and own the accounting operations layer, taking full ownership of Method's accounting contractors and turning that oversight into an efficient, fully owned function. You will also bring genuine technical accounting judgment to the table, researching and helping shape policy, and ensuring our data follows through on that policy.

This is not a role where you execute within a well-designed system. Method moves fast and does not always hand you clean inputs, so you will build the systems as you go and find the answers no textbook provides. The people who thrive here come from environments where they had to figure things out for themselves, not environments where the answers already existed.

This is a rare opportunity to build Method's accounting function from the ground up, taking full ownership of a critical process rather than a narrow slice of an existing machine, and to grow alongside a company that is still writing its own playbook.

What you'll do
  • Own order-to-cash end-to-end – Own invoicing, from process design through daily execution. Improve the process continuously and handle routine decisions autonomously.

  • Drive technical accounting – Research standards, assist in writing and refining policy across topics such as commissions and capitalized software, and update the underlying data to reflect it. Build the technical judgment that lets Method make sound calls on complex accounting questions.

  • Create standardized processes – Find the answer, implement it, and document it. Proactively identify where accounting infrastructure can be tightened, automated, or formally owned.

  • Serve as the accounting point of contact – Handle day-to-day requests and deliverables for finance and cross-functional stakeholders directly. Own the cadence and accountability for Method's accounting contractors.

  • Grow with the role – Take on broader accounting ownership as Method scales, including areas currently held by contractors.

Who you are
  • CPA required – You hold an active or inactive CPA license.

  • Big Four experience – You bring at least two years at a Big Four firm (EY, Deloitte, PwC, or KPMG).

  • Startup experience – You have worked somewhere that things did not always work, and you found a way through it regardless.

  • Data fundamentals – You are comfortable working with large, messy datasets and can maintain integrity and reconcile numbers across systems.

  • Fintech or SaaS background – You come from fintech, software, SaaS, or technology-adjacent companies.

  • Process ownership – You have owned a process end-to-end before.

Extra Awesome
  • Technical accounting depth: you've researched a standard, written a policy, and implemented it.

  • Experience managing contractors.

  • Prior experience with FBO accounting or payments-adjacent finance.

The annual US base salary range for this role is: $135,000 - $175,000.
