Piper Part-time Junior Staff

Department: Piper Branch (10515 E. Lakeview Dr. Scottsdale, AZ) Location: Scottsdale, AZ

Make a difference! - Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale is looking for responsible, reliable, and caring adults who are committed to making a positive impact on the great futures of our kids and teens.

Provides fun, educational programs including Education, Character & Leadership, Health & Life Skills, the Arts, Sports, Fitness & Recreation, and Technology.

Specifics: This is a part-time position, working approximately 15-20 hours per week, at $14.00 an hour. Paid training and orientation are required. Visit www.bgcs.org/jobs for more information and to apply online.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Part-time Junior Staff is responsible for the safety and supervision of Club members in a variety of program areas. Under the direction of the Youth Development Supervisor, the Part-time Junior Staff delivers quality programs and high-yield activities to Club members. Utilizes the organization's mission, vision, and values to set members up for success and provide an outcome-driven Club experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to program development and facilitation, program area safety and cleanliness, and providing guidance to volunteers. Part-time Junior Staff must be accompanied by an employee who is at least 18 years old when working with Club members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program Development & Implementation:

Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.

Directly runs programming and high-yield activities in assigned area.

Facilitates programming using a variety of methods, including lecture, discussion, active games, and supervised role playing.

Administers outcome measurement tools.

Delivers programs with an enthusiastic, high-energy, positive attitude.

Health & Safety:

Ensures program areas remain safe, clean, and organized.

Adheres to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale's policies and procedures. Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making. Acts quickly in emergency situations.

Maintains Club equipment and property to ensure they stay in good working order.

Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.

Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members.

Additional Responsibilities:

Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale.

Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Required:

Minimum age 16 and at least going into Junior Year of High School.

Boys & Girls Club membership.

Passion for working with youth.

Ability to multitask and adapt to Club's changing needs.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.

Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable adapting to new technology.

Flawless ethics and integrity.

Safety oriented mindset.

Recommended:

Minimum 1 year experience as a Club member.

Participation in Keystone Program.
