Job Summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Senior MuleSoft Integration Developer, to join its Information Technology Services (ITS) team. Reporting to the Integration Services Manager, the Senior MuleSoft Integration Developer designs, develops, and maintains complex MuleSoft integrations supporting business, academic, research, and administrative processes at the University of Chicago. This position serves as the technical lead for integration projects, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and helps set the direction for campus integration architecture and strategy. The Senior MuleSoft Integration Developer ensures integration solutions are robust, secure, and scalable, and advances digital transformation initiatives across campus units.

Responsibilities

  • Develops integration solutions to meet the requirements using components of the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including Design Center, Anypoint Studio, Api Manager, Data Weave, Message Queue, and Assets from Anypoint Exchange.
  • Leads the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of MuleSoft applications and APIs for data and process integration between Oracle Fusion ERP modules and third-party cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Coordinates requirements gathering and solution design sessions with stakeholders, business analysts, and technical teams.
  • Develops and maintains integration architecture documentation, mapping specifications, API portfolios, workflow orchestrations, and error handling procedures.
  • Ensures MuleSoft solutions adhere to University security, data governance, and compliance standards.
  • Troubleshoots integration issues, optimizes performance, and provides production support for critical systems.
  • Mentors and provides technical leadership to other integration developers and junior team members.
  • Participates in code reviews, system upgrades, and change management for the integration platform.
  • Collaborates in project planning, timeline estimation, and resource allocation for integration initiatives.
  • Stays current with MuleSoft platform enhancements, integration best practices, and trends in enterprise technology.
  • Utilizes thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements to translate business and user needs into system requirement specifications.
  • Recommends process improvements in existing applications and revises existing system logic difficulties as necessary. Designs, develops, and implements new applications, systems architecture, network systems, and applications infrastructures.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business, or a related field.
  • Masters degree in information technology, computer science, business, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with development, implementation, support, and maintenance of a vendor-supported system.
  • A minimum of 5 years as a MuleSoft developer supporting production systems troubleshooting within the Mule Runtime, Platform API, and Gateway tools.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Hands-on experience developing Integrations between Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and other applications.
  • Supporting production systems in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Background in higher education or nonprofit environments is a plus.

Certifications:

  • MuleSoft Certified Developer Level 1 certification.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Functional knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience integrating major enterprise SaaS platforms such as Oracle, Salesforce, Workday, SAP, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with hybrid integration models.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing for integration projects.
  • Knowledge of REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, OAuth, JWT, SAML, and API security standards.
