Job description

Northstrat is seeking a highly motivated Junior Logistics and Material Management Specialist for our production contract producing and maintaining space electronic warfare systems. This role supports the Logistics Manager in management/tracking of inventory, government property, and logistics coordination utilizing public and private transportation mechanisms for both domestic and international shipping. This individual will support production, sustainment of operations, and maintaining of systems.
As a Junior Logistics and Material Management Specialist, you will be responsible for receipt of materials, managing inventory, component replacement, audit and inspections of existing inventory, component failure metric tracking and coordination of supplying resources to fielding teams for system maintenance and repair. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery, optimize inventory levels, maintain the government logistics tracking system, and contribute to the overall success of the production process. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, apply analytical thinking, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the logistics manager with procurement, shipping and receiving, inventory management, RMAs, and addressing production and operational needs.
  • Manage purchase orders, product orders, and property records using an enterprise logistics management tool in coordination with other members of the supply chain team.
  • Report on the system fleet status using a government logistics tracking tool.
  • Manage good receipt, inspection, storing, and staging processes to ensure smooth handling of materials from arrival through production and to delivery.
  • Maintain accurate government property records, documentation, detailed reports of usages and failures, and ITAR compliance.
  • Manage and update inventory management records, including detailed unique IDs and government property IDs, to ensure accurate tracking and accountability.
  • Collaborate with production, deployment, and maintenance teams to ensure proper supplies are ready for site installations, replacement parts and spares.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipment, including scheduling, tracking, and maintaining documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation and global trade regulations and company policies for both domestic and international shipments including ITAR.
  • Manage shipping documentation such as DD1149, DD1348, Bill of Lading, packing lists, receiving and shipping forms, hazardous material handling, and proof of delivery.
  • Communicate with suppliers, customers, shipping companies, and freight carriers.
  • Process Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) materials.
  • Identify and resolve problems with received materials in coordination with quality assurance and production teams as needed.
  • Resolve logistics issues such as shipping issues, delays, or discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing products for quality assurance/quality control and adherence to specifications.
  • Verify completed systems area properly packed, marked, and ready for shipment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to meet customer expectations.
  • Effectively manage time to support aggressive delivery need dates.
  • Collaborate with logistics and production team members to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Analyze logistics data and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Must have a High School Diploma and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with logistics and production operations including asset management of government property.
  • Knowledge of shipping procedures, warehouse operations, and inventory management.
  • The ability/willingness to operate forklift and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams like procurement, production, and operations.
  • Physically able to conduct the actions necessary to perform logistics activities including lifting, racking and stacking equipment.
  • Must show effective communication to coordinate with suppliers, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and ensure timely delivery.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot logistical challenges and develop efficient solutions.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure.
  • Understanding of supply chain processes, including procurement, transportation, and distribution.

Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Certifications: APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Certified Logistics Associate (CLA).
  • Familiarity with the Logistics Information Network Systems (LIONS) III logistics reporting system is highly desired.
  • Technical certification or training in a related field.
  • Familiarity with local and international shipping regulations, import/export laws, domestic transportation regulations, and hazardous material handling.
  • Experience in global shipping management/customs clearance.
  • Experience evaluating and dealing with OCONUS storage options.
  • Knowledge of inventory control systems, methods like FIFO/LIFO, and stock optimization.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of storage methods, material handling, and safety compliance.
  • Ability to analyze data to forecast inventory needs, optimize routes, or reduce costs.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. Flex Time
Northstrat does not mandate specific working hours. Although project requirements may dictate schedules, a Northstrat employee is only required to work an average of 8 hours per weekday over the course of a month. For example: John worked 12 hours on June 1st to meet a project deadline. On June 15th, John only worked 4 hours because he left early for a long weekend. John's IBA was not debited for time off because flex time allowed him to carry over those 4 hours from June 1st.

IBA Benefits accrue each month in the amount equivalent to 50% of the employee's monthly compensation rate. That is, the effective dollar amount of this accrual is in addition to an employee's salary.

The PSP is a qualified retirement plan that Northstrat funds quarterly on the employee's behalf through the IBA in the amount equivalent to 25% (up to the IRS contribution limit) of the employee's compensation. That is, of the 50% accrual in the IBA, half of the amount accrued is applied to the PSP.
