Job description

The CRM Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting delivered and customized solutions within Creighton University's CRM (Salesforce) platform. The CRM Developer works closely with IT business analysts, project managers, technical team members and stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of CRM (Salesforce) best practices and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Customize Salesforce Applications:
    • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Components.
    • Create custom objects, fields, workflows, validation rules, and process builders to meet business requirements.
    • Develop custom user interfaces using Visualforce and Lightning Web Components.
    • Sustainably modify purchased applications as necessary to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and Stakeholders:
    • Participate in listening and requirement gathering sessions to understand business needs being captured by the Business Analyst.
    • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and design documents.
    • Provide technical insights and recommendations during project planning and requirement analysis.
    • Ensure that defined solutions fit within supported platforms and standards to avoid creating technical debt.
  • Design and Implement Scalable Solutions:
    • Architect and develop scalable solutions that adhere to Salesforce best practices.
    • Ensure solutions are designed for high performance, scalability, and sustainability.
    • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
    • Ensure that all solutions are fully documented upon delivery.
    • Perform Unit testing on developed solutions and those developed by others on the team as part of first pass Quality Assurance.
    • Resolve bugs and issues as of the result of testing.
  • Perform Data Migrations and Integrations:
    • Use tools like Data Loader or custom scripts to migrate data between the CRM other systems, and the University's data management environment.
    • Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and other systems as needed using REST/SOAP APIs.
    • Ensure data integrity and consistency during migration and integration processes.
    • Ensure all integrations followed defined coding standards and data governance rules.
  • Troubleshoot and Maintain and Enhance Existing Applications:
    • Address production support tickets submitted to IT from the campus partners.
    • Assist end-users with technical issues and provide guidance on best practices.
    • Identify and resolve technical issues related to Salesforce applications and integrations.
    • Perform root cause analysis and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
    • Provide timely support and resolution for user-reported issues.
    • Maintain and Enhance Existing Applications as needed due to environmental changes.
    • Regularly review and optimize existing Salesforce applications and workflows as needed.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Salesforce Releases:
    • Keep abreast of new Salesforce features, releases, and best practices.
    • Participate in Salesforce community events, webinars, and training sessions.
    • Apply new knowledge to improve existing solutions and develop innovative approaches.
    • Ensure applications are up-to-date with the latest Salesforce releases and features.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Salesforce Developer.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Salesforce Certifications are a Plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, and Salesforce APIs.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and design patterns.
  • Experience with data migration and integration tools such as Data Loader, MuleSoft, Talend or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Salesforce Developer Certification (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to Work Under Tight Deadlines and coordinate the work of other developers.
  • Experience in an Educational environment desired.
