Job description

Data Solutions Architect SME
The Opportunity:
In the defense of a nation, data is a strategic asset, and how we secure, manage, and utilize it defines our ability to outpace and counter threats. As a Data Solution Architect within the Department of War, you'll lead efforts to modernize data infrastructure, ensuring national security and unlocking the potential of data in mission-critical environments. You will design secure, resilient data architectures aligned with zero trust principles to safeguard sensitive information, optimize operations, and drive mission-critical decision-making. Combining expertise in tools like Varonis, Virtru, BigID, Collibra, Ohalo, and Trellix, you will develop and implement solutions that balance security, scalability, and performance across hybrid and cloud environments.
Your responsibilities include designing and delivering innovative data solutions to improve how mission-critical information is stored, accessed, and secured, while facilitating seamless collaboration. By leveraging tools like Varonis and Trellix, you will enhance zero trust data security through advanced access controls, threat detection, and risk mitigation. Using platforms like BigID, Collibra, and Ohalo, you'll establish robust governance frameworks that enable data classification, lineage tracking, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and FEDRAMP. Additionally, you will integrate tools like Virtru to enforce end-to-end encryption and secure data at rest and in transit, while modernizing legacy pipelines to enable cloud-native, scalable architectures that support real-time decision-making and advanced analytics. Beyond technical implementation, you will provide strategic leadership by developing architecture roadmaps, producing design documentation, and mentoring junior engineers, preparing your team to tackle future challenges with confidence.
As a Data Solution Architect, you'll play a vital role in securing and optimizing data environments across national defense operations. Your solutions will advance operational analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning capabilities, enabling smarter and faster decision-making while ensuring data is governed ethically, accessed securely, and shielded from adversaries. By leveraging cutting-edge tools and driving innovation, you'll contribute directly to safeguarding sensitive information and strengthening the Department's data-first defense strategy. At the intersection of collaboration and innovation, this is your opportunity to redefine how data is used to protect our nation and make a lasting, tangible difference.
