Job description

Overview

SUMMER 2027

Shure offers a challenging, fun, and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.

The Audio Test Intern will work closely with Product Development and Product Management to evaluate our products, to ensure robust and high-quality audio performance. The intern will create automated scripts, as well as design and implement experiments for evaluating new products and audio DSP designs. Experience working with audio electronics, live sound, and audio conferencing is a plus. 

This Internship is Onsite in Skokie, IL.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a cross-functional development team to validate the audio performance of our Integrated Systems products. 
  • Work under the direction of DSP software, Audio hardware engineers, and Product Management to execute tests and tune audio algorithms. 
  • Create audio test plans and test suites by translating product requirements into tests for quantifying and qualifying audio algorithm performance. 
  • Review test plans and results with engineers and project managers. 
  • Use scripting tools to automate tests where possible. 
  • Report and document any product issues discovered in the testing process. 
  • Estimate, organize, and document tasks. 
  • Communicate technical topics both verbally and in written form. 
  • Manage time efficiently to support project teams. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in Audio Recording, Music Technology, or Engineering. 
  • Interest in, and/or experience with, working with professional audio products in live sound, recording or A/V conferencing environments. 
  • Experience with networked audio or IT networking is highly desirable. 
  • Experience with programming languages or scripting languages such as Python or Matlab is highly desirable. 
  • Critical listening skills 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
