Job description

Junior Agile Project Manager
Kansas City, MO (On-Site)
Compensation: $30 - $35 per hour
12-Month Contract-to-Hire
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client's Environmental Services group is seeking a Junior Agile Project Manager to support the delivery of environmental technology and data-driven initiatives. In this early-career role, you will help plan, coordinate, and drive execution of agile workstreams, partnering closely with technical leads, environmental subject matter experts, and stakeholders to keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward. This is an excellent opportunity to grow within a national engineering firm and gain hands-on experience with environmental technology delivery, including AI-enabled workflows. You will play a key role in facilitating agile ceremonies, maintaining project boards and backlogs, and leveraging AI-assisted tools to streamline agile processes and reporting.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Facilitate day-to-day agile ceremonies, including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives for project teams within the Environmental Services group.
  • Maintain and organize project boards, sprints, and backlogs in Monday.com (and/or Jira, where applicable), ensuring accurate status tracking and visibility for stakeholders.
  • Partner with technical leads and environmental subject matter experts to translate project goals into well-defined, actionable user stories and tasks.
  • Track sprint progress, flag risks and blockers early, and help the team adjust scope or priorities as needed to keep projects on schedule.
  • Support reporting and provide status updates for project stakeholders and leadership.
  • Apply AI-assisted tools (such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to draft user stories, summarize meeting notes, generate status reports, and streamline backlog management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of team processes, tooling, and documentation as the agile practice matures.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 2-4 years of experience supporting or coordinating agile project or product delivery (junior-level; PMP not required).
  • Scrum-related certification (e.g., CSM, PSM I, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of agile frameworks and ceremonies (Scrum and/or Kanban).
  • Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to support day-to-day agile work such as documentation, reporting, or backlog management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to keep multiple workstreams on track.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for working across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with Monday.com as a primary project management tool (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Jira (a plus).
  • Prior exposure to environmental, engineering, or technical project environments (preferred).
