Job description

Client Overview:
Our client is a well-established manufacturer of custom adhesives. They value candidates who are upbeat, willing to contribute ideas, and eager to grow and succeed long-term. They are currently seeking a Jr Engineer.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$70k - $80k
Position Overview:
The Jr Engineer will assist in developing, commercializing, and optimizing custom products. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external customers to define product attributes, select raw materials, design product construction and processing conditions, conduct trials, and support new product launches.
Responsibilities of the Jr Engineer:
  • Support new product and process initiatives by working with commercial and customer-facing teams to establish project objectives, performance requirements, and technical parameters.
  • Coordinate and conduct laboratory, pilot, and manufacturing-scale evaluations to identify and refine appropriate processing conditions.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to assess the impact of proposed raw material changes and support material transition activities.
  • Work closely with Quality to investigate product performance concerns, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist Environmental, Health & Safety teams with evaluating potential hazards and risks associated with materials, processes, and new product initiatives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to assess raw material capabilities, investigate alternatives, and support material selection for development projects.
  • Perform applicable mechanical and physical evaluations, including tensile, adhesion, flexibility, and related performance testing.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of development activities, including trial parameters, test results, observations, conclusions, and recommended next steps.
Required Experience/Skills for the Jr Engineer:
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis as applied to engineering or product development activities.
  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Internship, co-op, or 1-2 years of other hands-on engineering experience is ideal.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Jr Engineer:
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize effectively.
  • Proactive and organized approach to responsibilities.
  • Highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects, scopes, tasks, and timelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory and mechanical testing equipment.
  • Background or interest in manufacturing processes or materials science is a plus.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
