Job description

Job Title: Systems Engineer (GCCS / JPES)

Location(s): Fort Meade, Maryland

Hours: Regular Full-Time

Salary Range: $147k/yr - $192k/yr

Clearance Requirements: This position requires a current and active Secret clearance (TS/SCI Preferred)

What you will be doing:

We are seeking a mission-focused Systems Engineer with hands-on experience supporting Global Command and Control System (GCCS) and Joint Planning and Execution Services (JPES) environments. This role supports the engineering, integration, sustainment, and modernization of Joint C2 capabilities across Combatant Commands and enterprise DISA infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineering and integration of GCCS (GCCS-J, GCCS-M, GCCS-A) and JPES/JOPES capabilities within Joint C2 environments
  • Analyze system requirements and translate them into technical specifications, interface designs, and engineering artifacts
  • Perform system integration, testing, and validation (SIT/UT/OT) across distributed and multi-domain environments
  • Assist in development of DoDAF architecture artifacts (OV-1, OV-5, SV-1, SV-6, etc.)
  • Support data integration, interoperability, and message exchange across C2 and intelligence systems
  • Contribute to cloud and hybrid system deployments, including DDIL-capable architectures
  • Ensure systems meet cybersecurity requirements (RMF, STIGs, Zero Trust principles)
  • Support Cross Domain Solution (CDS) implementation and data flow validation
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues and support operational sustainment activities
  • Collaborate with operators, planners, and engineers to align systems with Joint Operational Planning and Execution processes (JOPP/JOPES)

Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • 5–10 years of experience in DoD systems engineering or integration roles
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • GCCS ecosystem (common operational picture, data services, system interfaces)
    • JPES / JOPES workflows and systems
  • Experience with:
    • System integration and testing in classified environments
    • Interface control documents (ICDs) and data exchange standards
    • Linux/Windows server environments and basic networking concepts
  • Familiarity with:
    • DoDAF and systems engineering lifecycle processes
    • DISA enterprise services and infrastructure

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, or DISA programs
  • Familiarity with JADC2 concepts and data-centric architectures
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and pipelines (e.g., GitLab, Kubernetes, Platform One)
  • Exposure to API integration, data fabrics, and event-driven architectures
  • Certifications:
    • Security+ (DoD 8570/8140 compliant)
    • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) – INCOSE
    • Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure Government)

Core Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex mission systems
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, operational environments
  • Effective communication with both technical teams and mission operators
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on mission assurance and system reliability

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. The ability to move files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary would be required.
