Job Summary

The Strategic Intelligence (SI) Analyst is responsible for supporting collection, analysis, and dissemination of strategic insights that inform the organization's decision-making process. The SI Analyst works closely with cross-functional teams, including competitive intelligence, business intelligence, strategic engagement, enterprise planning, engineering services, and external consultants to develop data-driven insights, provides actionable recommendations, and ensures that the organization remains agile and informed to make proactive, strategic decisions. This position reports to the Manager, Strategic Intelligence.

What you'll do

  • Support the corporate strategy development and planning process by collecting data, conducting analyses, and interpreting data from internal and external sources to provide actionable strategic insights that support decision-making at the enterprise and cross-divisional levels.
  • Collaborate with the team to continuously evaluate and improve the intelligence-gathering process to enhance the organization's ability to make data-driven, strategic decisions. Stay up to date with industry tools, methodologies, and best practices to enhance intelligence capabilities.
  • Develop accurate, visually polished slide decks and reports that distill complex insights into digestible, stakeholder-friendly formats. Facilitate discussions with stakeholders that contribute to the data gathering process.
  • Work with the Manager, Strategic Intelligence to understand the needs of executive and divisional leaders and translate them into data-driven solutions. Contribute to the development of clear, concise, and impactful reports, and presentations for stakeholders at all levels. Translate complex data and insights into strategic recommendations that drive business outcomes.
  • Manage a repository of research resources and analysis supporting strategic issue resolution and decision making.
  • Conduct ongoing research into industry and market trends, assessing external forces, risks, and key performance indicators while staying current on emerging innovations, tools, and technologies that inform strategic decision-making.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in business, organizational leadership, communications, economics, public policy, behavioral or social sciences, or a related discipline required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in strategic intelligence, corporate research, or related field required.
  • Strategic experience in the healthcare insurance industry is preferred.
  • Ability to think beyond short-term goals and focus on the future. This includes understanding industry trends, market disruptions, and identifying opportunities for growth or improvement over the next several years. Ability to align strategic intelligence insights with organizational objectives and operational priorities.
  • Working knowledge of strategic decision-making tools (e.g., PESTLE, PrOACT, Strategy Canvas, SWOT, VRIO). These tools are frequently used when SI deliverables are presented to executive leadership.
  • Ability to conduct primary and secondary research and translate these findings into succinct and robust analyses. Proficiency in performing quantitative and qualitative research, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation. This includes working knowledge of social and economic research models, the ability to use proper demographic research methods and modeling techniques, and the ability to conduct statistical analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Ability to apply, validate, and interpret results in a variety of contexts. Explore and implement new methodologies to enhance data analysis capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in presenting intelligence reports, strategic recommendations, and briefing senior leadership, with the ability to translate complex intelligence into actionable insights for decision-makers.
  • A natural curiosity for answering questions, solving problems, and navigating unclear or evolving research needs. Ability to make decisions using independent judgment and creativity to resolve issues and overcome roadblocks.

Compensation

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
