TEKsystems is currently looking for a Sr. Telecomm Network Administrator to support our client in the Annapolis, MD market! This candidate will support the deployment/"Go-Live" of their hardware/applications (Interworking function) at an increased scale. The Network Admin will be a core member of their 24/7/365 Operations team to provide Tier 1 layer support for networking and IT administration for ECS (Emergency Communication Service). The network admins day- to- day can vary, but duties are not limited to the following: 1- serve as a point of escalation, 2. Diagnose, Troubleshoot, or escalate tickets, 3. Proactively monitor systems, 4. Assess performance and perform upgrades, 5. Maintain and create SOP's for responses and troubleshooting, etc...

  • Based at our office in Maryland, you will be a core member of our 24/7/365 operations team, responsible for providing networking and IT administration for the Emergency Communications Service — delivering mission-critical public safety communications to customers around the clock without interruption.
  • You will serve as a senior technical resource across our operations team, providing escalation-level support, proactively monitoring systems, executing upgrades, and ensuring the company's IT infrastructure always operates at peak performance and security.
  • You will design, implement, and maintain network operations across global offices and cloud deployments, with a strong DevOps mindset — automating workflows, managing infrastructure as code, and building repeatable, resilient processes.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation of IT policies, procedures, hardware, and software.
  • This role requires availability for on-call duties and scheduled shift rotations to ensure continuous coverage.
  • Travel to offices and data centers in the UK, Japan, and USA may be required periodically.

Key Responsibility Areas

1. Provide L3 technical support through 24/7/365 service desk, including on-call rotations and shift-based coverage; respond to, triage, escalate, and resolve incidents in accordance with defined SLAs.

2. Proactively monitor all IT systems, networks, and cloud infrastructure using observability tooling; identify and remediate issues before they impact operations.

3. Design, deploy, and maintain company IT networks— including cloud-hosted environments—with a focus on resilience, redundancy, and security; augment infrastructure to support new projects and services.

4. Ensure IT systems meet security and compliance standards; plan and execute upgrades, patches, and hardening activities.

5. Maintain and administer user accounts, access controls, and application software licenses.

6. Conduct regular audits of IT systems and software; maintain an accurate, up-to-date asset register.

7. Document policies, procedures, infrastructure, and system configurations to a professional standard.

8. Analyze, test, and deploy software patches and updates in a controlled, risk-managed manner.

9. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members; contribute to knowledge base articles and training materials.

Top Skills' Details:

  • 5+ years (Strong experience) within network (or systems) administration with a NOC environment support ISP/Telecommunication customers.
  • Very strong experience and ability to troubleshoot/diagnose issues across routers, switches, firewalls, etc. (Specific experience within Juniper, Linux Red Hat 9, and Openshift is highly desired).
  • Ability to be customer facing (Should have this experience through NOC/Ticketing) and perform cross functional team coordination. Needs to take initiative and be generally intellectually curious.
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to IT, computer science, or telecommunications.
  • Juniper Engineer level certification in both Routing and Switching (JNCIP) and Network Security (JNCIP-SEC).
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), and Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security certifications.
