Job description

Edge Platform team owns delivering software-defined, automated, and incrementally scalable network infrastructure products that improve the reliability of our network for Amazon's fulfillment centers and transportation sites, worldwide. These solutions are used by hundreds of thousands of associates, relied upon by operators of industry-leading fulfillment and transportation systems, and play a critical role in the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers.
The Network Development Engineer will leverage in-depth knowledge of network engineering and operational practices to develop the organizational technical strategy used to ensure improved availability one of the largest wired networks globally. The candidate will partner with Software, Operations, and Engineering teams, to define, build, and automate the future solutions which will enable faster, scalable management, globally. You will Identify themes and areas of improvement and deliver the software and design changes needed to affect change, through collaboration by partnering with peer teams, leading less tenured engineers to deliver on your behalf, or executing on your own.
Our team has a broad scope covering multiple business globally, from the smallest delivery stations in emerging markets to the most advanced automated fulfillment centers in North America, Japan, and Europe. As a result, this group enjoys a variety of both tactical and strategic projects. This is a unique opportunity that will enable you to grow your skills as an engineer and have a lasting impact on Amazon's fulfillment networks for years to come.
Key job responsibilities
• Identifying, developing, and delivering technical solutions that improve the availability of our network technologies.
• Partner with peer teams to collectively understand the customer problems and find technological solutions utilizing wired networking technologies.
• Define and meter the availability of our existing and future network solutions, ensuring they meet or exceed the needs of our customers.
• Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact to customers and enable them with scalable, resilient, and cost optimized services.
• Dive Deep on complex problems that identify root causes of our customer impacts, developing and delivering corrective actions.
• Innovate and automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and life-cycle management
• Defining the strategy for future team processes, tools, and , which improve how we maintain and manage them effectively, efficiently, and safely.
• Be a part of Global organization that provides 24x7 escalation service on shift rotation basis. Some night and weekend coverage may be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
- Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques
- Experience scripting languages and coding skills for one (1) or more of the following: Ruby, C/C++/C#, Node.JS, Java, Python, and PHP
- 4+ years of professional experience in network design, implementation, and operations
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise networking infrastructure (BGP, OSPF, routing protocols)
- Strong understanding of network fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSI Model)
- 5+ years of experience troubleshooting complex network issues in multi-tier, high-availability environments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- 3+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and network automation tools
- Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure integration
- Experience with network monitoring, analytics, and observability platforms

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
