Job description

Job Summary:

Responsible for regular cleaning of facilities and performs a variety of skilled maintenance assistance.

Supervisory Responsibility: No


Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Maintain and repair ERC facilities, equipment, and buildings by performing carpentry, electrical, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair work.
  • Handle after-hours emergency calls on a rotating weekend basis with other maintenance technicians.
  • Perform seasonal grounds maintenance (applying ice melt, snow removal, trimming trees, leaf removal, cleaning parking lots, pulling/spraying weeds, installing mulch, etc.) to keep ERC clean and presentable.
  • Remove blockages in restrooms, sinks, drains, gutters, yard drains, etc., using appropriate tools and materials (hand/electrical sewer snakes, plunger, caustic chemicals, acids, etc.).
  • Clean vans monthly at a location determined by the supervisor.
  • Perform daily cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, disinfecting bathrooms, and removing trash.
  • Carry out periodic or rotational tasks like deep cleaning floors, windows, ceiling, and floor vents.
  • Complete other janitorial and maintenance tasks as assigned.

Daily Cleaning Duties:

  • Sweep, mop, or vacuum floors in offices, hallways, lobbies, and restrooms.
  • Empty and sanitize trash and recycling bins.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
  • Refill soap dispensers, paper towels, and toilet paper supplies.
  • Dust and wipe down surfaces such as desks, counters, and windowsills.

Periodic or Rotational Tasks:

  • Deep clean carpets, buff or strip floors as scheduled.
  • Wash interior and exterior windows.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen or breakroom areas, including appliances and surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness of entrances, walkways, and outdoor areas (e.g., remove debris or snow).
  • Clean vents, ceiling fans, and baseboards periodically.

Facility Maintenance Support:

  • Report maintenance or repair needs (e.g., leaks, broken fixtures, damaged furniture).
  • Assist with setting up or breaking down furniture for meetings or events.
  • Lock and unlock buildings or rooms as required for the cleaning schedule.
  • Monitor and restock janitorial supplies and equipment.


Qualifications - Knowledge/Skills/Abilities include:

  • Ability to work diligently and accurately.
  • Possess problem-solving skills to fix issues.
  • Ability to safely operate: band saw, drill press, cutting torch, mixer, slicer, hammer, screwdriver, light plumbing equipment, power washer, electrical saws, drills, etc.
  • Train and learn from other workers.
  • Perform simple math functions.
  • Ability to use hand tools, measuring tape, computer, cell phone, calculator, and small electrical tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and timely with peers, supervisors, community members, consumers, advocacy groups, clients, etc.
  • Ability to use: computer, cell phone, adding machine, copy machine, 10 key, band saw, drill press, cutting torch, mixer, slicer, hammer, power washer, electrical saws, and drills.

Work Environment:

The physical work environments may have extreme heat or cold, noise levels which may, at times, require normal hearing protection in the form of earplugs, heights โ€“ rooftops, electricity, lubricating fluids, cleaning solvents, batteries, etc., cleaning fluids normally used in custodial duties, paints and solvents.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, lift, carry, push, turn, twist, reach, crawl, stoop, climb stairs/ladders, crouch, kneel, and bend at the waist.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Travel: Moderate - 20 to 60% local travel expected for this position.

  • Must be willing to travel between facilities.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum level of education required โ€“ High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum years of experience required โ€“ One year of facility maintenance experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Preferred level of education required โ€“ Trade school education
  • Preferred years of experience required โ€“ 3+ years
  • Preferred knowledge of programs and services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Preferred experience in nonprofit organizations.
  • Previous work with state licensures and related annual audits a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Must pass an extensive background check.
  • Must be in compliance with drug testing requirements.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • If you are a van driver for ERC, you must have a valid Arkansas driverโ€™s license, meet safe driverโ€™s requirements and be 25 years of age.
  • Required and or Preferred Certificates for this job โ€“ H.V.A.C. certified
  • Licensure requirements- Must meet minimum licensure annual training requirements.
    • This role includes licensure requirements for Administrators, Health & Safety, and HIPPA training.
  • This role requires ERC driver training to drive company vehicles.
