Overnight Janitorial Floor Tech
Position Summary:

The Overnight Janitorial Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of all floor surfaces in a shopping center or commercial facility. This includes sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, stripping, and waxing hard surface floors, as well as vacuuming and spot-cleaning carpets. The Floor Tech ensures that all flooring is clean, safe, and presentable before the center opens to the public.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily and scheduled floor care tasks:
    • Hard surface care: sweep, dust mop, wet mop, scrub, strip, wax, and buff
    • Carpet care: vacuum, spot clean, bonnet clean, and extract
  • Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, and extractors
  • Handle proper dilution and use of cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines
  • Identify and report floor damage, maintenance issues, or unsafe conditions
  • Follow established cleaning procedures and schedules for all assigned areas
  • Work independently and efficiently during overnight hours with minimal supervision
  • Ensure all work is completed prior to center opening and that all areas are clean, dry, and hazard-free
  • Assist in other general janitorial duties as needed (e.g., trash removal, restroom cleaning, dusting)
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Keep equipment clean, well-maintained, and stored properly after use


Qualifications:
  • 1–2 years of experience in floor care in a commercial or retail environment
  • Familiarity with various floor care equipment and techniques
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow schedules and checklists
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, bend, kneel, stand, and walk for long periods
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus


Work Environment:
  • On-site at a shopping center or large commercial facility
  • Overnight hours, typically when the building is closed to the public
  • Exposure to cleaning agents, noise from equipment, and varying floor conditions
