Summary:

This role involves ensuring material arrives in proper quality and quantity to meet company standards. To achieve this, material must be checked upon arrival against drawings and part descriptions to have correct fit, form, and function. The material must then be matched against purchase orders and packing slips to be received accurately into stock.

Inspector must also make sure material is properly put away in location, and locations are labeled and kept clean and organized.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect andf verify the quality of incoming material against drawings to ensure proper fit, form, and length.
  • Match quantity of incoming material against packing slips and purchase orders to ensure proper amounts are received into inventory.
  • Communicate shortages, damages, or stock issues to the Materials or Inventory Manager.
  • Accurately label, stage, and store materials in assigned warehouse locations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and work areas.
  • Perform inventory transactions in the system (GS or ERP) to ensure accurate stock levels.
  • Support cycle counts and assist in resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver materials to production, fabrication, or other departments as needed.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and support continuous improvement in material flow.

Competencies

  • Ability to read and decipher engineering drawings and complex part descriptions
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read packing slips, part labels, and work orders.
  • Proactive nature, good communication and teamwork skills.
