What you'll do
The IT Systems Manager is responsible for the reliability and scalability of the company's core IT systems and infrastructure. This role leads system administration operations across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments, while driving automation, standardization, and operational excellence. The IT Systems Manager serves as both a people leader and senior technical owner for enterprise systems.
  • Lead the implementation, operational management, and lifecycle governance of enterprise systems across compute, storage, virtualization, identity, and cloud platforms.
  • Manage system lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and decommissioning.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, monitoring, and operational readiness of production systems.
  • Act as escalation point for Tier-3 incidents, leading root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.
  • Partner with Security to ensure systems comply with security baselines, access controls, and audit requirements.
  • Support automation and Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives to reduce manual work and improve consistency.
  • Set priorities, assign work, and balance project delivery with operational support.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support employee growth and career development.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend improvements aligned to business needs.
  • Work closely with Service Desk, Security, Network, and Application teams to ensure seamless operations.

Location & Travel Expectations:
  • This role may be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Computer, Virtualization and Storage platforms
  • Proven experience owning production systems in an enterprise environment
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
