Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Information Technology (VP IT) plays a pivotal role as a senior leader spearheading a joint Information Technology organization representing a strategic partnership between FastMed and Alo/Avance Care. This role is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, operation, maintenance, and security of a shared Epic electronic health record (EHR) environment and related enterprise IT systems supporting both organizations. This position entails guiding the strategic alignment with business objectives, encompassing areas such as business systems and processes, infrastructure design and engineering (this includes data center, network, and end-user devices), and management of service provider contracts. The role provides leadership for a single, integrated IT department that delivers services across clinical and corporate functions for both companies, ensuring reliability, security, compliance, operational efficiency, and alignment with the strategic priorities of each organization.


This is a highly visible role requiring a combination of highly technical competencies with strong leadership skills. Having the ability to develop strong relationships with business leaders across both organizations is a critical component. The proven ability to inspire confidence, create executive presentations, and guide strategic discussions with senior management is critical.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Establishes and executes the strategic direction for all information systems and technology supporting FastMed and Alo/Avance Care, in close collaboration with executive leadership from both organizations.
  • Leads and operates a shared IT organization, ensuring governance, prioritization, and service delivery models effectively support the needs of both partners.
  • Serves as a key strategic advisor and partner to executive leadership teams, including both COOs, on information technology strategy, investments, risk, and innovation.
  • Owns the implementation, operation, optimization, and ongoing support of a joint Epic EHR instance, including clinical, revenue cycle, and ancillary applications.
  • Ensures Epic and related systems are configured and governed to meet the operational, regulatory, and clinical needs of both organizations.
  • Directs and coordinates professional services including systems analysis and design, feasibility studies, system integrations, and application development.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and recommends new technologies, platforms, and services that improve efficiency, scalability, security, and clinical or operational outcomes across both organizations.
  • Oversees shared IT domains, including:
    • Data center, network, and cloud infrastructure
    • Endpoint support for clinical and corporate teams
    • Application, network, cloud, data security, and regulatory compliance
    • Enterprise systems supporting HR, Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Clinical teams
  • Owns the commissioning, IT readiness, and ongoing support of new FastMed and Alo/Avance Care locations as applicable.
  • Approves and manages the acquisition of hardware, software, licenses, and IT services required to support joint operations.
  • Develops, manages, and executes the IT budget for the shared IT organization, ensuring transparency and fiscal responsibility across both partners.
  • Monitors and reports on IT performance, project delivery, system availability, cybersecurity posture, and resource utilization to executive leadership.
  • Ensures the integrity, reliability, and security of all shared information systems, including protection of patient data and compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST).
  • Establishes strong IT governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks across the joint environment.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging technologies, healthcare IT trends, and regulatory changes to proactively evolve the IT ecosystem.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field (required)
  • Master Degree Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Experience:


  • 10 years or more of comprehensive experience in information technology, with a significant portion of this experience in a leadership role within healthcare organizations.
  • Extensive experience leading all areas of the information technology function including business systems and processes, infrastructure design and engineering (including data center, network, and end-user devices), managed service provider agreements, EMR, billing and back-office systems, data infrastructure and reporting engines help desk and support, communications systems, and cyber risk mitigation.
  • Successful track record in improving workflow performance, establishing standard operating procedures, and implementing workflow automation to boost efficiency is essential
  • Knowledge of HITRUST and healthcare regulatory requirements preferred.

  • Deep understanding and expertise in healthcare IT systems, particularly in Electronic Medical Records (EMR), healthcare data management, and system interoperability, supporting government audits at an enterprise-wide scale, and ensuring stringent security measures.
  • Excellent executive-level communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated record driving innovation and continuous improvement in people, processes, and technology as an appropriately “hands-on” leader.
  • Ability to make solid, proactive recommendations that leverage technology to enhance business growth.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; the ability to lead through influence rather than control, and to collaborate credibly and effectively with executive leadership and staff at all levels in multiple organizations.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and align technology strategy with operational business objectives across multiple organizations.
  • A highly organized and self-directed approach to work, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize competing tasks in time-constrained situations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related enterprise software.
