GENERAL SUMMARY

The IT Specialist is responsible for providing direct service support to users for a wide variety of computing devices/peripherals as well as all IT related functions. The IT Specialist works autonomously fulfilling end user requests and resolving issues according to service and procedural standards. Typical responsibilities involve moves, adds, and changes for computer devices, access requests/set up, application support and responding to break/fix service requests. The IT Specialist is required to participate in IT related projects as directed.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains computer networks between locations and/or care centers.
  • Contributes to determining hardware and software specifications.
  • Responsible for application testing and documentation of workflow.
  • Provides user support and customer service to physicians and staff to resolve software and hardware issues.
  • Responds to questions from callers and walk-ins; remotely assists physicians and staff with technology problems in offices.
  • Exhibits knowledge of fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment.
  • Installs hardware and completes repairs.
  • Communicates security information to all levels of the organization.
  • Under supervision, administers information security software and controls.
  • Follows standard Help Desk operation procedures; accurately logs all Help Desk contacts using tracking software for job tickets.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Microsoft certifications preferred.

KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of common operating systems and software applications.
  • Adequate familiarity with equipment found in clinics.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft on-line services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Strong problem solving skills; abstract ability to visualize a problem or situation and solve it.
  • Ability to provide technical support over the phone; good phone skills, and professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated oral and written skills.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Requirements:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Computer Science or Certificate in computer technology related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years experience in lieu of degree or certificate. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Information Technology.
