The Technology Applications Manager at Bachus & Schanker will play a critical role in harnessing our legal technology to support strategic goals and operational efficiency. This role exists to transform and optimize the firm's legal technology ecosystem by configuring applications, developing workflows, and implementing automation solutions that support operational excellence.

What you'll do:

  • Software Management: Oversee the day-to-day management, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the firm's legal software platforms to ensure consistency, reliability, and scalability.
  • System Configuration & Workflows: Configure SmartAdvocate and related applications by building workflows, templates, permissions, forms, automations, and releases that align with firm operations and leadership priorities.
  • Automation & Integration: Design and implement automations, integrations, and AI-enabled solutions that reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and connect systems across the firm's technology ecosystem.

Learning & Development and Technology Adoption: Develop and manage technology training within UKG by converting existing materials into bite-sized learning modules, creating knowledge assessments, tracking employee comprehension, and providing targeted retraining to reinforce system adoption and proper technology use.

  • Reporting & Process Improvement: Develop automated reports, dashboards, and system enhancements that provide leadership with actionable insights while identifying underutilized platform capabilities that improve operational performance.
  • Technology Implementation: Translate documented business processes, procedures, and operational requirements into functional software configurations that support current operations, future acquisitions, and the firm's long-term growth initiatives.
  • Training & Documentation: Train attorneys and staff, promote user adoption, and maintain documentation for system configurations, workflows, and process changes.
  • Vendor & Project Coordination: Coordinate and oversee external technology vendors and technical specialists to deliver integrations, data initiatives, and application-related projects successfully.
  • Internal Expertise: Serve as the firm's subject-matter expert on legal applications, advising leadership on system capabilities, improvements, and best practices.

  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience configuring and administering legal case-management systems or high-volume CRM platforms, including workflows, automations, templates, permissions, reporting, or releases.
  • Workflow & Integration Experience: Proven success designing workflows, automations, integrations, and reporting solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Communication & Training: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, train end users, and drive adoption across both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills with the ability to translate business requirements into effective technology solutions.

  • SmartAdvocate Experience: Direct SmartAdvocate experience is strongly preferred; experience with Litify, Filevine, or comparable legal platforms is also valued.
  • Vendor & Project Management: Experience coordinating external technology vendors or implementation partners while managing projects through completion.
  • Technology Mindset: Sound judgment when implementing automation and AI solutions, with an emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and continuous process improvement.
