Summary
The Senior Manager of Application Development & Support is responsible for providing technical leadership, directing, and leading technical execution of multiple, concurrent technical solutions (custom built and 3rd party solutions) that meet business needs of internal and external customers following established technology guidelines, standards, and processes. They will also be responsible for managing and leading a team of technology professionals responsible for developing intelligent automation solutions. Oversee initiatives leveraging UiPath, ServiceNow, Microsoft Power Automate, and AI technologies. Drive platform strategy, system architecture, and scalable workflow development while aligning technology solutions with business objectives to support organizational growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of high-performing software engineers, Technical leads, and platform architects.
  • Platform Strategy: Own the roadmap, strategy, standards, operating model, and adoption plan for UiPath, ServiceNow, Microsoft Power Automate, Copilot Studio and AI integrations.
  • Technical Strategy: Drive the architectural vision, tech stack evolution, and code quality standards for core applications to build secure, scalable, and stable automation architectures across cloud and on-premises systems.
  • AI Integration: Embed generative and traditional AI tools into workflows to boost system smarts.
  • Governance & Standards: Establish governance for automation development, best practices for code quality, access controls, reusable components, auditability, monitoring, exception handling, secure AI usage, code management (branch management, code reviews, AI token consumption, upgrades, general up-keep, etc.) and maintenance across all tools while adhering to Ryder Governance and Security policies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work with business leaders to identify and manage the automation opportunity pipeline, prioritize demand based on business value, complexity, risk, and reuse potential, and report realized benefits such as productivity gains, cycle-time reduction, cost avoidance, and quality improvement.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience: 8+ years in IT or software engineering, with 3+ years managing technical teams. Partner with product managers, QA, security, and executive leadership to align roadmaps.
  • UiPath: Deep knowledge of UiPath orchestrator, robots, and advanced automation workflows.
  • ServiceNow: Expertise in ServiceNow workflow engines, integration hub. Knowledge/experience with Legal, HCM and Fin modules a plus.
  • Microsoft Power Automate: Strong background in Power Automate cloud flows, desktop flows, and Dataverse.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Hands-on experience with AI builders, machine learning models, and cognitive services.
  • Methodologies: Proactive technical debt management as well as a Strong grasp of Agile delivery and DevOps practices for automation (CI/CD). Oversee the complete software development life cycle (SDLC) using Agile and Scrum methodologies.


Essential Functions

  • Partner with business leadership to drive innovation of capabilities by understanding business needs and evolving technologies and participate as integral member of IT Technology Delivery Management Team responsible for defining and implementing technology strategies, capital plans and roadmaps.

  • Provide technical leadership to team of developers to make appropriate technical decisions that will meet business needs and set team priorities based on tactical and strategic objectives, creating focus on main goals while eliminating roadblocks.

  • Define, implement and promote processes, best practices and standards for application development and deployment including service-oriented architecture, reusable code, web usability, look & feel branding and security controls, following Agile Methodologies and Lean Six Sigma.

  • Work closely with other departments within the IT organization to understand business demands and identify appropriate opportunities for solutions and continued innovation of technical capabilities aligning with business needs.

  • Manage budget according to plan by preparing yearly forecast, facilitating capitol request preparation and assessing future resource needs.

  • Manage all aspects of management tasks for team from prioritization of work, career development, and training needs.

  • Manage all aspects of application development and support. Accountable for application performance/stability, end-to-end transactional flows, root cause analysis and corrective actions for any outages.
