Position Description: Job Summary
An Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technician in agriculture is responsible for implementing and monitoring pest control strategies that minimize the use of chemical pesticides and promote sustainable farming practices. Overall, an IPM technician plays a crucial role in helping reducing pest and pathogens while keeping sustainability of agricultural production in mind and actions.
Essential Responsibilities
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Conducting regular inspections of crops to identify pest infestations and disease outbreaks
Monitoring pest populations and assessing the need for control measures
Implementing a variety of pest control methods, such as biological control, chemical control and cultural practices
Applying pesticides and fungicides, following strict safety guidelines and regulations that follow OSHA and Sunburns SOPs
Cleaning and maintaining IPM equipment as well as worked in areas
Keeping detailed records of applications, pest control activities and monitoring results
Collaborating with departments, agronomists, and other sections to develop and implement plans
Providing training and education to coworkers and departments on IPM principles and practices
Staying up to date on the latest research, spray tactics and developments in pest management techniques
General duties around the garden as they relate to the upkeep of the garden
Ability to follow directions
Experience And Qualifications
Minimum 21 years of age.
Knowledge of marijuana strains and anatomy.
Dynamic interpersonal and communication skills.
Weekend shift required with 2 days off in the week
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Work is performed in a greenhouse environment and requires the ability to stand for long periods, in temperatures 80 degrees + and to operate application equipment while in a Tyvek suit. Prolonged periods of standing and bending and kneeling to obtain an even distribution of applications. Employees should be able to lift 45 lbs. consistently and 70 lbs. occasionally.
