As an Investigative Support Assistant at the GS-1802-6, you will be part of the Office of Field Programs, Office of the Director, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In this role, you will provide administrative and clerical support to EEOC investigators and staff who handle cases for the nation's leading civil rights agency responsible for enforcing federal laws that prohibit employment discrimination.Qualifications:For the GS-6: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as (1) assisting in the development of a variety of evidentiary materials surrounding charges; (2) securing needed information to process inquiries and charges of discrimination; (3) monitoring case development to follow-up with charging parties/complainants to secure additional information; (4) performing clerical and administrative support duties, such as receiving telephone calls and providing information; (5) proofreading materials for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and required format.
Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-5 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS- 6 level.
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements (e.g., time-in-grade and qualification requirements) within 30 days of the closing date specified in the vacancy announcement.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
