Job description

As a Fraud Investigator within our Credit Card Fraud Investigations team, you play a vital role in protecting our customers and the firm from financial crime. You will analyze customer accounts and transactions to detect potential fraud, conduct thorough investigations, and collaborate with colleagues, merchants, and law enforcement to recover funds and prevent future losses. Your work helps us stay ahead of emerging fraud trends and ensures our customers feel secure. We foster a supportive, team-oriented environment where your insights and dedication are valued. Job responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed investigations into high-risk cases, utilizing multiple data sources and applying advanced analytical thinking to identify potential fraud trends and emerging patterns.
  • Research recovery opportunities to minimize fraud losses and maximize fund recovery.
  • Collaborate with Risk to review activity and identify opportunities to prevent fraud.
  • Prepare and present clear, concise, and professional written reports of investigation findings to law enforcement, ensuring all supporting documentation is attached.
  • Document detailed case investigation efforts in the case management system of record.
  • Network with fraud units from other financial institutions to share intelligence and stay informed on domestic and global fraud trends.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with cross-functional teams, industry peers, and law enforcement.
  • Attend and participate in fraud type meetings, presenting investigative findings to the team.
  • Assist with law enforcement arrests, prepare sworn documents, and testify as a custodian of records in legal proceedings.
  • Adhere to and apply JPMC's policies and procedures accurately, demonstrating an advanced understanding of client, geography, product, and industry requirements.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects, prioritizing based on urgency and timeline requirements, and escalating any risks or issues related to task completion.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum of three years of Card Services experience.
  • Minimum of two years working with credit card fraud accounts.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all fraud loss types.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Apply strong analytical skills, sound decision making, and good judgment.
  • Prioritize goals effectively to meet business objectives.
  • Work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Work independently and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all investigative activities.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Demonstrate proficiency in FWIR, C3, Customer Assist, EIV, ATS, Lexis Nexis, Webstats, and Tableau.
  • Utilize experience with Teradata or Snowflake data platforms.
  • Exhibit card regulatory knowledge, including Reg Z and Reg P.
  • Prepare FinCEN Suspicious Activity Reports.
  • Apply expertise as a financial investigator.
