Litigation Associate Attorney or Counsel โ€“ Eminent Domain & Inverse Condemnation
Locations: Los Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento, or San Francisco
Experience Level: 2โ€“8+ Years

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney or Counsel to join a leading, nationally recognized law firm with a premier Eminent Domain & Inverse Condemnation practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-impact matters alongside a collaborative and well-respected litigation team.

The Opportunity
The associate will support a busy litigation practice focused on eminent domain and inverse condemnation matters, handling a broad range of responsibilities from case development through discovery and motion practice. The position may be based in any of the firmโ€™s California offices listed above and offers a collegial, hybrid work environment with strong mentorship and long-term advancement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda

  • Prepare and manage discovery, including document review and responses

  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic litigation support

  • Review and analyze title documents (preferred but not required)

  • Manage multiple matters efficiently while collaborating closely with attorneys and staff

Qualifications

  • 2โ€“8+ years of litigation experience

  • Excellent academic credentials

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and work effectively in a team-oriented environment

  • Admission to the State Bar of California (required)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $175,000 โ€“ $230,000, depending on experience and qualifications

  • Eligibility for annual bonuses, including a 15% bonus upon meeting the firmโ€™s 1,850 billable hour expectation

  • Billable hours include up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work

  • Comprehensive benefits and a supportive, hybrid work culture
