Job description

Amarr, a leading manufacturer of residential and commercial garage doors, is part of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in access solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our Lawrence, Kansas team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing financial reporting while partnering with operations and leadership to drive business performance.
What You'll Do
As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of manufacturing cost data and providing financial insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process and analyze daily manufacturing work orders and resolve discrepancies.
  • Partner with production teams to reduce and eliminate work order errors.
  • Calculate and track labor efficiency metrics, including Units Per Labor Hour (UPLH).
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and support P&L review activities.
  • Maintain inventory ledger (IL) and general ledger (GL) integrity.
  • Perform inventory valuation, cost accounting, and perpetual inventory analysis.
  • Conduct variance analysis, including material, labor, and purchase price variances (PPV).
  • Analyze obsolete inventory and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track project costs and provide reporting for product and operational initiatives.
  • Participate in product development and cross-functional project reviews.
  • Manage the annual standard cost roll process.
  • Develop cost quotes and financial analyses for business leaders and field personnel.
  • Prepare and present monthly product cost reporting to Purchasing, Sales, and executive leadership.
  • Support physical inventory processes and cycle count activities.
