Job Description:
General Summary:
The Senior Structural Engineer, with limited supervision from the Manager of Structural Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated construction documents for structural systems.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Review and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and design approach with Manager of Structural Engineering, Project Manager and/or client
  • Perform as project lead engineer for larger projects, managing the production effort of staff assigned to the project in terms of quality, budget, and schedule
  • Keep current with latest code publications and apply in everyday analysis as applicable. Ability to seamlessly apply minimum code requirements to construction documents and specifications.
  • Apply loading on structures, including wind and seismic forces, and convey forces and required detailing on drawings.
  • Produce innovative design solutions and give valuable engineering judgment when applicable
  • Communicate with other disciplines to produce well-coordinated construction documents with a basic understanding of Architectural details and MEP requirements
  • Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items
  • Communicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project Manager
  • Mentor less experienced engineers
  • Use available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checks. Backcheck others work and verify models are being correctly produced.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Employment Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or other related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Professional Registration; S.E. preferred

Experience
  • 12-15 years of related experience in the structural engineering field
  • Solid CMU design knowledge
  • Wood experience a plus.

  • Drafting: Revit, Bluebeam
