Job description

LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is forging an American energy future with integrity, innovation, and positive impact. Born in Texas in 2003, we own and operate over 30 utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in local communities across the United States, totaling 4 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.
LRE continues to help meet increased U.S. energy demand through our robust pipeline of new projects every year. Domestic jobs and manufacturing are fundamental to our full-lifecycle approach to projects, along with a long-term ownership model and a company culture dedicated to our community partners and protecting the natural environment.
Leeward Renewable Energy is always interested in connecting with motivated students who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy industry. This internship posting allows us to identify and engage with students year-round who are interested in current and future internship opportunities across the organization. At LRE we run an annual internship program that begins in June and ends in August. We review applications periodically and reach out to candidates whose interests and academic backgrounds align with internship opportunities as they become available. Students that have already graduated or will be graduating in 2026 are not eligible for internships but may review and apply to one of LRE's full-time job postings.
LRE is currently seeking interns for the calendar year of 2026 (summer interns) to participate in a 10-week internship at LRE.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with relevant stakeholders through informal and formal meetings
  • Relevant job shadowing within your department
  • Learn technical skills related to the industry and apply those to assigned projects and duties
  • Prepare communication materials and project work
  • Attend all relevant meetings and be an active participant
  • Participate in all internship activities including speaker series and professional development opportunities

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of undergraduate schooling at the time of application in public affairs, communications, environmental science, engineering, and business-related fields
