What is an internship technology position?

Internship technology positions are temporary roles designed for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the technology sector. These internships typically involve working on software development, IT support, data analysis, or similar projects under the supervision of experienced professionals. Participants learn new technical skills, gain insight into the tech industry, and build their professional network. Technology internships can enhance a resume and often serve as a pathway to full-time employment in the tech field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship technology?

To thrive in a Technology Internship, you need foundational knowledge in computer science or a related field, along with basic programming and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with coding languages (such as Python, Java, or C++), version control systems like Git, and collaboration platforms is typically expected. Strong communication, eagerness to learn, and adaptability help interns excel in team environments and dynamic projects. These skills and qualities are essential for contributing effectively, learning quickly, and making a positive impression in a technology-driven workplace.

What kinds of projects do interns typically work on in a technology internship, and how is mentorship provided?

Technology interns often contribute to real-world projects such as software development, data analysis, or IT support under the guidance of experienced professionals. Mentorship is usually structured through regular check-ins with assigned mentors or team leads, who provide support, feedback, and learning opportunities. Interns may participate in code reviews, collaborative meetings, and training sessions to build their technical and professional skills. This hands-on experience, along with exposure to industry-standard tools and practices, helps interns prepare for full-time roles in technology.

Job description

7GC ANALYST, INVESTMENT TEAM

April 2025

JOB DESCRIPTION:

7 Global Capital (7GC) is a venture capital firm that backs visionary founders building category-defining technology companies. Our portfolio spans early-stage startups to growth-stage enterprises including investments into Anthropic, Poolside, Jio and Hims & Hers.

As an analyst at 7GC, youโ€™ll work directly with our investment team to identify the next generation of tech innovators. Youโ€™ll have unparalleled exposure to our diverse portfolio of market leaders and gain handsโ€‘on experience in deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio support.

The role is built for an independent thinker and true generalist that has an insatiable curiosity for technology companies. You will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the business dayโ€‘toโ€‘day and can expect to work on a number of assignments at one time. Due to the relatively small size of the professional staff, an analyst is expected to assume integral responsibilities at the firm during his/her tenure.

Why 7GC?
  • Track record of backing unicorn companies that have transformed their industries including leaders in generative AI and verticalized technology leaders.
  • Global perspective with investments across the world and an investment team that spans two continents.
  • Collaborative culture where junior team members contribute meaningfully to investment decisions from day one.
  • Strong founder relationships built on trust and valueโ€‘add beyond capital.
ANALYST OFFER:
  • Work and report directly to the Investment team based in San Francisco, New York, or Los Angeles.
  • Start date flexible in Q3 2025.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the investment partners throughout the investment process from sourcing deals to screening / due diligence / writing memos for investment committee.
  • Tracking trends, target companies, and competitors within 7GC parameters.
  • Assist in the management of portfolio companiesโ€™ postโ€‘investment.
  • Manage deal flow database, screen initial deals, and schedule and attend company presentation meetings.
  • Assist investor relations team with LP and fundraising research.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Any candidate should be highly motivated, intelligent, and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.
  • Passion for technology and a technical background (majored in engineering, economics, finance, or other relevant quantitative field).
  • Strong academic track record.
  • Collaborative team player and selflessness.
  • Prior investment banking internship, technology, or comparable is beneficial but not required.
  • Technical experience in software development / product development is warmly welcomed.
  • Strong excel & PowerPoint skills.
