RESCUE MISSION SOCIAL ENTERPRISE SUSTAINABILITY amp; OPERATIONS INTERNSHIP
Do you love to thrift? Are you passionate about reusing or recycling? Do you enjoy writing, organizing, and making processes more efficient? We have a perfect internship for you!
Since 1887, the Rescue Mission Alliance has supported countless community members across Syracuse, Auburn, and Binghamton. Today, our commitment to putting love into action extends statewide through the operation of 20 Thrifty Shopper and 3fifteen locations. This initiative promotes sustainability, reuse, and community impact while providing hands-on opportunities to improve operations.
During an eight-week unpaid experience, the Sustainability amp; Operations Intern will help us achieve our vision by creating operational resources, improving reporting processes, and supporting environmental initiatives.
A Rescue Mission internship is a great opportunity to gain experience, develop professional skills, and make a positive environmental and community impact!
DUTIES:
  • Develop a Store Playbook: Write, edit, and organize an operations manual to support training and onboarding.
  • Excel Reporting amp; Automation: Update spreadsheets to automatically feed reports, improving accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support Sustainability Programs: Track and document reuse and recycling initiatives in our stores. Assist with other operations tasks and process improvement projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Comfortable with Excel, including formulas and basic reporting functions.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and ability to follow through on tasks.
  • Proactive, curious, and solution oriented.
  • Motivated to support sustainability and community-focused initiatives.
