It is not uncommon for interns to have periods with little or no assigned work, especially at the start of the internship or during slow periods. Communicating with supervisors can help clarify expectations and seek additional responsibilities.

Is $30 an hour good for an intern?

For an internship, earning $30 an hour is considered above average in many industries, especially for roles requiring specialized skills or certifications. Interns typically earn less, often minimum wage or slightly above, but paid internships at this rate can indicate a competitive or highly skilled position. Factors such as location, industry, and the intern's experience influence whether this rate is considered good.

Job description

About the Brian Hamilton Foundation:

The Brian Hamilton Foundation believes in entrepreneurship for all. Our mission is to increase business ownership across the world because it is the most reliable way to remove the socioeconomic barriers to freedom. We teach people why and how to start businesses—mostly simple ones that don’t require capital—and help them get started by bootstrapping, the way almost all entrepreneurs begin.

Part of the Brian Hamilton Foundation’s offerings are Starter U and Starter High—free, on-demand entrepreneurship courses for adults and youth, which have been taken by more than 30,000 people to date. To learn more, visit brianhamilton.org.

About the SOUL Program for High School Students:

The Brian Hamilton Foundation SOUL Program is a selective, paid summer internship for high-achieving high school students. Interns work on real projects in areas such as marketing, public relations, community outreach, growth automation, partnership development, and social media, gaining professional experience inside a high-impact nonprofit led by entrepreneur Brian Hamilton.

SOUL stands for Speed, Ownership, Unreasonableness, and Love for those we serve, the core tenets of our culture across the Brian Hamilton family of companies.

Interns will own projects that grow our brand and expand the reach of our entrepreneurship programs. While specific projects will be determined closer to the summer, examples include outreach to media outlets, nonprofits, community leaders, correctional institutions, and schools and universities, as well as recruiting, writing articles and blog posts, capturing and posting social media content, and more.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in high school

• Unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.75+, or top 5% class ranking

• Strong attention to detail and follow-through

• Reliable, organized, and able to commit 15+ hours per week in person at our Apex office

What’s in It for You?

• The Brian Hamilton Foundation is led by entrepreneur Brian Hamilton

• Real-world experience at a fast-growing nonprofit organization

• Direct guidance from the foundation’s communications leader

• Resume-building projects and a professional reference

• The opportunity to make a meaningful impact

• This is a paid internship at $20 per hour
